SKILLS THAT WILL MAKE YOU AN EXPERT - In this two-day workshop, you will learn clinically proven methods for helping your clients lose weight.  At the end of the second day, you will walk away with a hypnotherapy-based program for weight reduction that you can implement in your practice immediately.  You will develop the skills and strategies that teach overweight clients how to stay motivated, cope with compulsive eating, and activate their own resources for a healthy lifestyle—with methods that can be adapted for each individual.  You will learn how to alleviate the basic psychological factors that most-often contribute to obesity.

A New Niche for Your Practice.  Consider these statistics about the obesity epidemic in the US.

  • Obesity now affects 30% of the population, with another 30% overweight.

  • Obesity-related conditions contribute to 300,000 deaths yearly.

  • Obesity is associated with heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, and a host of health ailments.

  • The costs attributable to obesity total approximately $100 billion a year, with over half those dollars resulting from direct medical care costs.

Obesity affects people from all walks of life. There is a need for practitioners who can offer a safe solution at an affordable cost.  Wouldn’t you like to be the therapist in your locale that people turn to for a weight reduction program that works?   Wouldn’t you like to be the therapist doctors refer to?  That’s what this workshop can do for you.

The workshop will cover:

This workshop is based on Judy Pearson’s book: The Weight, Hypnotherapy and YOU Weight Reduction Program: An NLP and Hypnotherapy Practitioners Manual. Hypnotherapists all over the world are successfully adapting this program for their own practices and reporting fantastic results with their clients. You will learn the structure of the program, the basic skills, and how to make it work for your practice.

How to set up a Hypnotherapy Weight Reduction Program in Your Practice
Dr. Pearson will share how she developed a hypnotherapy weight reduction program for her own practice, and you can bring this know-how into your setting.  She will tell you about the logistical factors that help clients stay with a weight reduction program, as well as the unique considerations of working with overweight clients.

Hypnotherapy Skills
Whether you are a novice or an “old hand” in the practice of hypnotherapy, this module will offer training in the unique skills for working with this approach, with this clinical population.  You will learn the core skills of Neuro-Linguistic Programming that make hypnotherapy a transformative experience. You will learn how to reliably create exquisite rapport, help each client establish a strong commitment to change, and address both the personal and social systemic considerations that make the difference between weight reduction success or failure. Additionally, you will acquire the skills for inducing a straightforward yet powerful hypnotic trance that utilizes extraordinarily compelling imagery that will truly motivate your clients to get results.

The Initial Interview
You will learn how to conduct the initial interview for weight reduction.  This module will cover the questions to ask, the questions to answer, and the agreements you must reach with every client.

The Six Step Reframe
The Six Step Reframe, developed by Richard Bandler, is a simple, yet elegant process for working with stubborn habits and compulsions.  You will learn how to use this method for helping clients understand the unconscious inner drives that often contribute to overeating.

Additional Strategies for Weight Reduction
This module presents an overview of additional strategies for promoting lasting weight reduction and client involvement and accountability.  You will learn about the NLP Slender Eating Strategy, how to get your clients unstuck, what to say about exercise, and how to address the concerns of clients who have reached target weight.

Your training will consist of lecture-demonstrations and practice exercises in pairs and triads.  You will work with colleagues so that these concepts and processes become a comfortable and familiar-feeling skill in your repertoire.

THE BENEFIT

Hypnotherapy for Weight Reduction can be conducted in a way that appeals to each client, because your treatment plan will be based on each client’s unique circumstances and input.  Nevertheless, with this training, you will obtain specific processes for helping clients reach and maintain target weight.  You will take your clients beyond the outdated diet-and-exercise bromides for weight reduction, into state-of-the art strategies that bring effective outcomes.

Research studies have shown that hypnotherapy increases success with weight reduction, when used in addition to sound nutritional planning and sensible physical activity.  Most weight loss plans and books promote diet and exercise only—and we now know diet and exercise aren’t enough. Ninety-five percent of people on diet-and-exercise plans do not reach target weight.  Hypnotherapy engages the unconscious mind—wherein lies the true source of empowerment.

What you want is excellent training…this is excellent training.  Baltimore Behavioral Health and Judy Pearson are fully committed to teaching. Therefore, the focus is on your learning and skill development.

Who should attend?  This workshop is open to mental health professionals and health care providers.
